Archos Car Charger October 5, 2008 K. Woods (Tampa FL) This is an important item for travel but remember that you have to also have the Battery Dock or the Mini Dock to use it.
Works great August 15, 2008 monicab1979 (Chicago, IL) I have the Archos 605 160GB. I bought this for a road trip to Texas, and it worked wonderfully. I thought someone had said that you couldnt watch and charge at the same time, but you can. I watched 3 movies in about 8 hours, and it was plugged in and fully charged the whole time. The car I was in had a tape deck, so we used a tape deck adapter that plugs into your headphone jack so we could also have the movie on the car speakers. All in all, great product, worth the money.
Archos Car Lighter Adaptor January 7, 2008 S. Old (FL, USA) The archos car lighter power adaptor works well, was received promptly, and was reasonably priced.
Looks ok to me April 14, 2007 R. Gilbert (Dallas, Texas, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I saw the other person's review about this item, saying it didn't fit well in the lighter socket. I just bought this charger, and it seems to fit perfectly well in a 2003 Saab 93 and a 2003 Ford Escort. Even shaking it around a bit, didn't cause the red light on the charger to go out. I don't know if Archos changed their design or if it was just the previous reviewer's vehicle, but it works well for me. Also, as for the device not charging while being used, my guess is that it's more a function of the device than it is the charger, and probably works the same way with a home (AC) charger.
Doesn't fit securely into the device socket July 22, 2005 Steven E. Savage (West Orange, NJ USA) 29 out of 32 found this review helpful
This is a truly awful design and not at all what one would expect from a great innovator like Archos. First of all, the connector does not fit securely into the device socket. This causes two problems: 1) You have to jiggle the connector until the display indicates that power is actually being received and 2) Once you actually are receiving power, you must position it so that it won't jiggle further, lest you lose power--very difficult to do in a moving vehicle! Secondly, the cable is made of really flimsy materials and doesn't seem likely to survive very many uses. Finally, it doesn't charge while the device is in use, so you will still have to plug it in when you get to your destination, defeating the benefit of such a great portable device.
