The naysayers are right March 14, 2010 U. Semolina (Newton, MA United States) We decided to take a chance on this player despite the negative reviews. We're shipping our defective unit back to Amazon tomorrow. After a couple of weeks, the unit could not read whether a disc was loaded or not, it stopped responding to the remote control _and_ the panel controls, and finally froze with a disc in it. CNET has an entire discussion forum devoted to why Samsung BD players are have such poor quality and we learned our lesson.
Buyer Beware March 12, 2010 kidcarbon This unit failed 1 week after the 90 day warranty. It will not recongize Blu-ray disks and will not save network settings (etc). Since it's out of warranty, the labor charge for a repair is $85. If you want to avoid the feeling of being scrwd by a major manufacturer, I highly recomment not buying this product. It DOES have a nice glossy finish though. Gonna go back to my old Sony Blu-ray which has worked reliably for several years.
never work right-forced to return DO NOT BUY March 12, 2010 Master Card (Joe USA) A junk work for one week then every dvd or cd i put in will freeze, i was a full I should know better SUMSUNG was never my favor but i took a chance oh boy was a bad one this junk drove me crazy i hat to return it I will never buy anything from Sumsung again ever,
Great connectivity March 7, 2010 B. Barlow (PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just bought the Samsung BD-P3600 and it works great. However the reason for 4 stars, I had to return the first one to Amazon. It made a strange noise when the power was on. No big deal, Amazon makes it easy to return. Second one works great.
I have the wireless set up and get Pandora and Netflix. It is easy to set up, as the system is pre-set up for these. Just tell the unit how to connect (wired or wireless), set up an account via your computer, and it's all set.
I thought the wireless may give interruptions to the movies, but that has not been the case. The streaming movies works great, no problems.
I recommend this unit.
It's a good product but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. March 7, 2010 Xavier Vasquez (Naperville, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the 3600 even after reading all the problems that people have been having with the unit. It sounded like luck if you got a good unit or if you got a lemon. I wanted to buy the OPPO BDP-83 but at $500 that's pretty expensive so I wanted to give the 3600 a chance. My thinking was that if the 3600 gave me too many problems I would return it and bite the bullet and get the OPPO.
On the first blu-ray movie I watched, the unit froze twice. Each time I had to power down the unit and start the movie all over again. Since then I've watched about 20 movies - both regular and blu-ray - and the unit has not frozen any more. The 3600 did refuse to turn on once last week. I had to disconnect it and reconnect it in order to get it to work. I did download the software upgrade on the unit - it automaticaly informed me that there was an update.
So other than those two issues, the unit has been running great. Blu-ray is truly better than standard dvd. The clariy is stunning - especially on the Batman The Dark Knight movie. The scenes took my breath away. I've watch a lot of regular dvd's as well and the 3600 upconverts these perfectly. I like the fact that a lot of the regular dvd's fill my 54" hdtv screen completely instead of having letter boxes on the top. Even then the standard dvd movies look very clear.
I will continue to use the 3600 and report back if any addition problems occur but for now I will continue to keep my fingers crossed.
