Product Description Hot Link Pro completes your home theater system with a super slim-line infrared eye!The Hot Link patented system constantly monitors the ambient light and noise floor. In darker ambient light it becomes more sensitive to remote control pulses, making the eye the most sensitive it can be based on ambient light environment. When the eye is in a "hidden" location behind a speaker grill, tucked up in a toe-kick or in a door slot it compensates for the expected loss in distance by becoming more sensitive to the pulses emitted from remote controls. Get great remote control roaming freedom, and enhanced beauty of your home theater.

Awesome product, awesome service March 17, 2010 luke (Appleton, WI) First of all this unit works perfectly. The IR receiver is extremely sensitive, you can mount it almost anywhere and it will pick up the signal from your remote. No more stretching to reach your A/V equipment that your coffee table is blocking (or if its mounted in a cabinet). There are absolutely no delays from when you press a button on your remote to when that action happens on the equipment. If you have a plasma TV make sure you mount the IR receiver behind the TV otherwise it will pick up infrared noise.
Secondly, shortly after my cat decided to chew on one of the IR emitters I had mounted on my receiver. He destroyed it so I emailed Microsmith and no questions asked they replaced the entire unit at no charge! What customer service!
Great performance March 15, 2010 camerabug (Seattle, WA USA) This thing just works great. I routed the sensor up from under the TV where the equipment is stored (behind a cabinet door), thorugh the hole where the wires go to the TV, and then taped it to the TV stand with clear packing tape. It is nearly invisible, and works great. This is highly recommended. I have two of these now, one upstairs in our bedroom and one in the family room.
Worked perfect March 10, 2010 Bubba This thing works great. Stuck the receiver behind my LED TV and then just mounted the IR transmitters inside my cabinet door (partially laziness and partially so I didn't have to connect each transmitter on the device and have more wire mess). The thing worked great on first shot with my U-Verse (Motorola) box, Sony receiver, LG DVD player & Sony CD changer.
Exactly what I wanted... March 10, 2010 L. Courtney I purchased this item to replace a Cables To Go Remote Repeater (model 40430) which had died on me after six months. But having used the Hot Link Pro System and the Cables To Go, I can offer a fair comparison. Its really night and day in my opinion. With the Hot Link system we can sit anywhere in the room and operate the remote to control our equipment (which sits inside a cabinet with closed doors), it does not require direct line of sight. This is a very different experience that with the Cables To Go which required direct line of site which often required pointing the remote directly at the sensor. A couple other points: both systems are very easy to setup and the sensor with the Hot Link System, because it does not require direct line of sight, can be placed in less obvious and noticable locations. One setup item that was slightly confusing was placing the sensor in a location where it did not have interference from the TV. The LED indicator lights up a continuous blue if there is interference, but once I figured out that you have to cover part of the sensor to avoid the interference it was no problem at all (if I had read the instructions first it would have been even easier to figure this out.)
This is a more expensive option than the Cables To Go unit that I replaced, but definitely worth the extra money.
Does what it needs to do. February 24, 2010 A. Pierce 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great piece of equipment. Does what it needs to. Construction could be a bit better. I stuck the emitters on the equipment and then had to re-arrange some things and when I pulled them off the plastic casing around the emitters came apart. I was able to superglue it back together and it still worked fine. Placement of the receiver is key to good operation. Took me a couple hours to try different angles but now I can use my Harmony and all the other equipment remotes from anywhere in my living room, dining room, and kitchen.
