Okay, But August 24, 2008 I shouldn't have needed to buy this second mount. The first had one suction cup that kept losing its suction. The new mount has three flat pods with lead (I think) in them. It is better but it still slides a bit. I usually put the GPS on the seat or center console and rely on the voice directions rather the the screen.
What took so long? August 17, 2008 This item is so much better than the suction cup mount that came with the Garmin Street Pilot. Its design allows us to place the GPS unit in the safest and best possible spot in the car for use while on the road. It is well worth the money spent and easy to use and store, too.
Garmin Dashboard Mount ROCKS! August 9, 2008 I had been using the suction cup mount that came with my Garmin c330 until it had fallen from the windshield often enough to break the wiring in the harness. So I opted for the friction based dash board mount as a replacement. It's easier to see, more convenient for placement, holds the c330 securely and is easily dismantled for storage. Suction cups left rings on the windshield that were a dead giveaway to potential thieves that there was a GPS in my car. I don't have to worry about that any more. Thanks for a great item!
Holds Tight August 4, 2008 The Garmin Dash Mount for the StreetPilot series, Holds real good, even on an odd shapped dash, like my 1990 Chevy Beretta.
A great work-around for a Dodge Caravan with the long sloping windshield August 2, 2008 I bought this dashboard mount for my Garmin c330 so that I could use it in our Dodge Caravan. The long sloping windshield prevents the regular Garmin windshield mount from working well, so this seemed like a good alternative. The weighted pads seem to provide more than enough stability for the c330 when set up on the Caravan's dash just to the right of the instrument pod. In all other respects, the mount works just like the windshield mount - the Garmin clips right in with a locking connector, the power from the cigarette lighter socket is routed right into the back of the Garmin, and its easy to remove from the dash when parking so as to avoid the GPS smash-and-grab that seems to be popular around here in parking lots and city streets.
