5 out of 5 stars Long-time owner- excellent buds.   January 4, 2009

To start off, I must say that anyone who has had quality issues or fitting issues are simply unlucky. I've used these buds for over two years and have abused these buds more than I would any other set. At first, I had these buds and was disappointed in how they fit. Then I tried some other size tips (they have three sizes) and I ended up finding the right one. They are extremely comfortable and are great noise isolators. If you have them on, it's unlikely that anyone will be able to guess what you're listening to even at higher volumes. As for the bass, they are great. If your player has an adjustable equalizer, I'd suggest increasing the lowest frequency up a bit to even things out. It seems to have a roll off around 25hz, which is significantly lower than any Bose system could go by the way. These can hit around 14hz when you have it cranked enough. I paid retail for these when they came out (over $60) and I still think they were a good choice. These don't have that great of soundstaging (you can pin-point where certain instruments are and where the singer is located at) but you shouldn't expect any earbuds to do that really at any price point. I've used these in the rain, I've dropped them in the sand, and I've used them when exercising. They are durable, sound great, and are comfortable. The only things you need to worry about are choosing the right size tips, putting them in your ears properly(they do go pretty far in your ears), and choosing proper equalizer settings. If you're the kind of person who tends to snag, cut, tangle, find the wire too long, or otherwise damage the thin wire, you may want to use the included headphone wire wrap that is extremely useful and easy to use. For the money, you can't go wrong.

4 out of 5 stars ample sound for a budget price   January 3, 2009

This would be considered my second set of true "in-ear" soft earbuds. Most of my opinions are based from my first set (Etymotics ER.6i) which provided tremendous sounds quality, but lacked bass.

When I first put these to the test the bass was a little obnoxious, since my ears weren't used to it. However soon it became quite nice to experience. Songs sounded different than they had on my ER.6i's in both good and bad terms. The bass was quite rich, but there were some instances in which the highs and mids were left weak. Thus as long as you realize what sound your getting for what you paid, you should greatly enjoy the sound experience.

I also wanted a pair I could go running with. I ran a 10k in drizzle / sprinkling weather and they held up fine. I don't know how they will do in the long run, so i'll try and keep this updated.

So if your on a budget, or just want something better than the in package pieces of junk, I would greatly recommend this product. However, If your looking for better sound definition with your noise isolation I would recommend looking elsewhere. Otherwise its a phenomenal product for the price. Oh and the silicon wrapping tool is a nice touch. First wrapping tool I used since it was flexible and more comfortable to carry.

4 out of 5 stars Sound is awesome, durability isn't so much. Worth it though?   January 2, 2009

Yes.

Ofcourse, awesome bass! But for the settings on my iPod I decided to have the extra bass but if you dont want it, all you have to do is adjust your settings and it is not as powerful. In my opinion, I dont think it overpowers everything at all, it has an awesome sound of all parts of the spectrum even when you adjust it to have high bass.
The only problem I have been having is with its durability. The sound quality is topnotch, but the durability doesnt go along with it. The headphones have fell apart, and the wire is not very durable and pretty flimsy. My first pair had both problems so when I purchased them again, I took precaution and added some sturdy tape to areas where I felt needed and thats done the trick.

3 out of 5 stars Great sound as long as they last   January 1, 2009
Robert E. Goldstein (Old Bridge, NJ)
I bought these for my iPod Touch in late Feb. 2008. They had a break-in period of a couple of weeks and then the sound improved. Unfortunately, the sound from one of the two sides died a few months later, and when I tried to contact the V-Moda website for warranty information and to replace them, I got no response despite several tries.

So, the sound is great. Much better, in my opinion, than the Bose Tri-ports that I use now (got those with points from my credit card), and much better fitting than the Bose Tri-ports also, besides being much less expensive.

I would recommend these earbuds but for the terrible (non-existent) customer service from V-Moda.

2 out of 5 stars v-moda versus the bose tri pprt and other over the ear designs   December 29, 2008

PRO: small, good build quality, cheap

CON: poor sound quality, poor fit in ear

OVERALL: With sound comparable to the standard iPod ear buds, why buy these.

I recently purchased these headphones to use in addition to my Bose Triport headphones with my iPod. I thought the smaller form factor would make them more attractive for when I traveled.

I was wrong. The sound quality is not comparable. The Bose headphones are significantly better, even in terms of bass, which was surprising considering all the bass hype and reviews. The comfort is also not comparable. The Bose headphones are way more comfortable. This may be subjective, because all of the included ear pieces appear to large for my ears, and thus they fit uncomfortably, but I'm not sure.

Overall, decent headphone, but no better than the ones included with my iPod.
