Didn't work for me.... November 14, 2008 Pessex (Fairfield, CT USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this to use with a Samsung LN-S4692D television (46" LCD, two HDMI inputs), since I had 3 boxes I wanted to hookup to the TV using HDMI (cable box, DVD player, TiVo HD). Unfortunately, it just wouldn't work properly with my TV. I could get the TV to see the Terk if the TV was already set to the appropriate HDMI input when I turned it on, but as soon as I started cycling through the TV inputs the Terk would disappear (my TV doesn't "cycle" through an input if it doesn't detect that a cable is attached to it). I tried all sorts of techniques to see if I couldn't get this to work, but nothing did. Terk's customer service was absolutely useless. It took three emails to get a response, and then that was a "canned" response. I'm afraid I can't recommend this product.
Only works with some devices November 8, 2008 Tom Santos (San Jose, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I only use the switcher in manual mode and I can't get it to work with half of my devices. It works with my Comcast DVR and my Roku box but it *doesn't* work with my AppleTV and my new Toshiba Blu-ray player. For the price, I expect the unit to be able to work with all of my devices. I do not recommend this device.
Super Deal October 27, 2008 Gary W. Meek (Lake Charles, LA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well I guess I can begin by asking why they Call BEST BUY, Best Buy? Amazon's price was $36 and BB's price was $99. The Switch did not work well in the auto-detect mode. But I am so happy not to have to switch cables between pieces of equipment. That manually switching them at a touch of my finger is not a big deal.
Good quality device October 22, 2008 S8472 (VA) First if you are looking for a wonder box that will do everything under the sun for you, then you will have to pay a little more than $50. I simply wanted a switch that would allow my one input DVI TV to have multiple HDMI devices without having to unplug the PS3 and plug up the HD DVR and vice versa. This device clearly states in the manual that it will automatically switch to the newest detected input. So if you have your HD receiver on, and turn on the PS3, it will detect the newest input (PS3) and switch. So at this point if you want to watch the HD receiver again, you will have to turn off the receiver and back on again or get off your duff, and go hit the manual input switching button. Or you can spend a $100 and get one with a remote. I'm actually glad that it has this manual button incase of problems in the future. If it does not switch properly then your device is probably not HDCP compliant. As one previous review stated, lights on top are very bright, but doesn't really bother me. I have it pushed way to the back of my HD receiver. Comes with a mounting bracket that is already attached with rubber feet on bottom so it will not slide when it is laying on your whatever. Picture quality is no different then not using it.
Finally an affordable HDMI Switch that does all that is advertised! October 18, 2008 Aaron Moore I have tried multiple sub-$100 HDMI switches of varying brands and have had issues with all of them until now. I am using this for a PS3/Xbox360/PC configuration going to my plasma TV via HDMI. With many brands I have had issues with my PS3 or PC not working properly. Even some more expensive brands I tried had issues properly sending PC signals. I was skeptical about the Terk as it is not only affordable but I have read mixed reviews on it's performance for other people. However the Terk surpassed my expectations. I expected something to either not work as advertised or to require major tweaking to get it to function properly. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged this jewel in and it worked without a hitch right from the get go. The autoswitch feature is working perfectly as well - and it does switch back to a previous signal if the current one is lost. So for example if I have my PC on and then turn on my 360 - the Terk automatically switches to the 360. If I turn the 360 off the Terk automatically switches back to the PC (as long as it's still on of course). As a final note - I run a 25 foot HDMI cable from the output - so I was a little concerned with how the Terk would perform over that length of cable. The answer is - PERFECTLY!!! Anyway - anyone who is looking for an affordable way to add HDMI ports can't go wrong with this unit. I couldn't be happier after months of trying multiple brands.
