A cut above Uniden... September 14, 2008 Eduardo Nietzsche (Houston) I love all the Uniden phones I've had, and they do offer the best price-to-performance ratio around, but I have to say that this Panasonic is worth the extra money. Namely, the sound quality is excellent in both directions, in both clarity and volume, and the wireless range is quite impressive as well. I love that it uses ordinary rechargeable batteries rather than some ridiculously overpriced proprietary battery which you might have a hard time finding in stores when it can no longer hold a charge maybe 2-3 years from now. (I suspect that cordless phone manufacturers make most of their profit from proprietary batteries, in the same way that computer printer makers make most of theirs from the ink cartridges.) And the form factor is gorgeous: glossy piano black, with a nice clean and compact look. So, high WAF (Wife Approval Factor) for sure. My only quibble is that this phone is totally handset based: there isn't even a little LED readout on the base which tells you how many messages you have. Everything is shown on the handset's little color display, which is certainly attractive for a cordless home phone, but is still pretty lackluster compared to even an entry-level cell phone from Motorola or Nokia. That's why I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars: this phone sort of emulates cellphones but doesn't quite pull it off. It lacks the extensive personalizable options, and the menu is short yet not entirely intuitive. The phone book only holds 50 numbers which is great for a cordless phone but sucky compared to a cell phone. Maybe one day Nokia will get into the home cordless market, wow that would be the best of all possible worlds!
Great cordless phone August 12, 2008 Maureen Brennan (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) I bought this phone to replace a older Panasonic KX-T4169C which, after 10 years, was worn out. I am very happy with this product. Battery life is about 1 week. Color display is visually appealing to look at. Has a speaker phone on the handset. Programmable 1 touch dialing - assign a number to your various directory entries and 1 key dial. Has call display. 50 phone number directory storage. Shows the date and time on the handset display. Build in voicemail box are some of the major features. I wish there were more choices of wallpaper. I think there are only 3 and the handset is a little small and not conducive to resting on your shoulder. This phone is everything I needed in a cordless home phone. I'm very happy with this phone and expect it to last me five plus years.
Excellent product August 7, 2008 Sudhir K. Singh My previous 5.8 ghz GE wireless phone stopped working after a lightening strike in the vicinity of my house. As a replacement I wanted a wireless phone with speaker. This phone serves the purpose very well. I keep the phone on the central table with speaker on and whole family spread around the living room can participate in the conversation on the phone. I have used the phone for upto 2 hours continously at a time and battery worked very well. The phone is sleek and light weight. The buttons are big and easy to use. It is very comfortable.
cordless phone review July 25, 2008 J. Sohn (Lawrenceville, Georgia United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We decided to return this phone less than 24 hours after we received it. We simply could not figure it out. The phone would ring but we could not hear the person calling or if we made a call, the call went through but again we could not hear the person on the other phone. We felt that a basic function like this should not be so difficult to decifer. If this was hard, how difficult would it be to get the phone to do some of the other more advanced functions! I would love to discuss this with somone. It's probably the worst experience we've ever had with something purchased on Amazon or anywhere else!!!
it works and it's fairly straightforward July 8, 2008 J. Cole 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
what the title says. i was away when it arrived, and my girlfriend was able to take it out of the box and set it up, and she has no idea how to turn on the tv, so that means it's pretty good. also, i like the voice on the outgoing message so much that i haven't put a personalized message on there yet. ok!
