5 out of 5 stars Electronic Music Fans Look No Further...   July 1, 2008
I decided to get a pair of ear buds because my DJ headphones (Sony MDR V-700) were a bit too cumbersome for travel and every-day use. I was, however, skeptical that any buds could come anywhere near acceptable for the sort of heavy bass I expect from the giant $100 DJ phones. I listen mostly to Trance/House/Dance stuff and with that sort of music, feeling the beat is pretty much the whole point.
These things are amazing. The bass reproduction is unbelievable. If you're an electronic music fan, these are the buds for you, I guarantee it. For best results, I recommend using the largest set of silicone heads you can comfortably wear. You should also make sure that they are inserted properly. You'll be able to tell (push them in tightly until the sound is right, then let them relax in your ear). I found that the largest set (three sizes are included) provided the best sound- without a complete seal (i.e. the smallest pair that is the default)- the things sounded tinny and awful. The difference is really staggering.
In conclusion, if you need strong beats.... these are the buds for you. I cannot overstate how spectacular these little suckers perform.

5 out of 5 stars Great set of earphones   June 30, 2008
for what its worth, these earphones deliver very well. the bass is outstanding. i guess a lt of people have problems with the comfort, but i dont have any problems with fittings, fit's just fine. great bang for the price.

3 out of 5 stars I used to love these. . .   June 28, 2008

I had these headphones for about 4 months and I LOVED them. It was the best pair of relatively cheap headphones I've had, and I've tried at least 7 types. The sound was amazing with great bass and sound isolation. They were cute and they worked great.

Today the right ear fizzed out followed quickly by the left one. Maybe I was a little too rough on them, but any earphones should be up to a little wear and tear. Perhaps next time I'll try investing in a higher quality pair.

2 out of 5 stars Great sound, doesn't last   June 22, 2008

I bought these headphones two months ago and I just discovered today that one side doesn't work. It makes me sad because the sound quality was very good. However since they don't last long I don't recommend getting these. I only give two stars because the sound was good for the time it lasted.

5 out of 5 stars I REALLY REALLY LOVE these earphones!   June 21, 2008

I mainly use my iPod for working out on aerobic equipment at the gym (treadmill, stepper, bike, etc). I've been looking for some earphones to replace the ones Apple gives you with the iPod. Although those offer decent sound, they are damned uncomfortable and make my ears hurt after 30 minutes (I don't understand why can't Apple include comfortable earbuds with their product!)

I did a lot of research before buying these V-Moda Bass Freq earbuds. At first I was going to get some Sony earbuds, but after reading about the problems with the cord spontaneously disintegrating, I decided against it and went for the V-Moda instead.

All I can say is: WOW! I thought the sound from the Apple earbuds was pretty good, but it's nothing compared to the V-Moda's. As you would expect, the sound is rather "bassy," but the highs are also quite crisp. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but really it's extremely good. I'm very very pleased with this purchase!

I mainly use my iPod at the gym. As you can imagine it gets pretty noisy there and I wind up having to crank up the sound on my iPod to hear the music well. These V-Moda's fit in my ear extremely comfortably and actually provide a great deal of noise blocking. All that extra noise created by the other treadmills and bikes around me is 70 to 80 percent blocked out! I was quite amazed. And this allows me to hear the music clearly, therefore I don't need to crank the volume of my iPod so high. The music sounded so much better than usual that it motivated me to exercise longer -- because I was really enjoying the sound of the music so much!

Since they are earbuds, you do have to place them rather deeply into your ear canal to achieve the correct bass and noise-blocking effects. You may need to fiddle with it a little bit to get all the bass effect. But the earbuds are a not uncomfortable. In fact, I wore them for an hour and forgot that they were on. Extremely comfortable!

I've only owned them for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on their durability, but I'm very careful with my stuff so I expect them to last a long time. I plan to order one or two more pairs.

Oh, and by the way, I also ordered a pair of iLuv 301s because they were inexpensive -- the sound doesn't even begin to compare. The iLuv 301's produce a tinny little sound, whereas these V-Moda Bass Freq's are terrific. It's like comparing a transister radio to a 100-watt speaker.

Overall I give the V-Moda Bass Freq's five stars for quality, sound, noise blocking, and a good value for the money!
