Wonderful Light Duty Labeler April 25, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
For labelers in this price range, this one is a find. It's compact, light, easy to use. There are also advanced features such as frames, accents, presents, etc.
I use this in our church library, to label the spines of our books, movies, music, etc. it works great since I can center the labels, and the extra white space will wrap around the spines. The labels are durable and don't smear or flake off easily from the books. This has been in use for almost 2 years now - and gets a work out about once a week. It's still on it's original batteries! And I love the way our shelves look - all nice white labels lined up on the spines.
The tapes have been easy to find for me, I usually order from Quill and if I get a few at a time, it's free delivery. I've not had a problem with peeling the labels like some have. I've found that for me, the lighter my touch at a corner, the easier it is to peel. I just gently rub my thumb over a corner a couple times and they usually separate easily.
One tip on label jams. Yes, it does happen occasionally and then you have a wrinkled mess in back. Cut the label off straight at about 1/8" from the top of the cartridge or it may jam again.
One warning this thing is addicting! If you like to organize or are a wannabee, then buy some extra tapes right away. You'll be looking for more things to label!
Can I Come Over and Label Your Stuff? April 6, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This was one of those "I'm so glad I read the reviews" purchases: there are much more expensive labelers out there, but this one kept getting such accolades that I thought I'd try it. I LOVE it. Right out of the plastic - no instructions read - I started making labels, and it completely changed the look of my files. It is truly the easiest thing ever and yet makes a world of difference. Right now I have no complaints: would it be terrific if it had an AC adapter instead of or as an alternative to the 6 AA batteries it requires? Sure. But I'll take it as it is for its ease of use and usefulness.
You don't have to read the directions March 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love it when I can pick up a product and start using it without reading the instructions! I have yet to read the instructions and it is really easy to use. Great for the office for lables, etc and at home if you're as organized as Bree Van De Kamp on Desperate Housewives, you can lable to your heart's desire.
A few notes: They have various lable tape colors. It's not as cool as you'd think. I really like the white. Easier to read. I've tried a few others and I'm not all that pleased. Also, it would be helpful if they'd make a "super-sticky" version of the tape. If the surface you're applying it to is rough or at all porus, you'll have trouble. No hesitation however, about recommending this.
Very short battery life January 14, 2007 4 out of 13 found this review helpful
This labeler would have been perfect if you could plug it into an outlet, or battery life was longer. Every feature is excellent. However, the battery life is maddeningly short. It seems like batteries only last one day, if not less. I don't use it a lot - just for my home office, so it's completely unacceptable. Seemingly every time I charge them, it works fine when I put them in, and next day batteries are dead.
fabulous machine December 31, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have been using this machine for about couple of weeks and impressed with it so far. It's pretty good. I wish it also accepted plastic tape as well ( I plan to purchase M831 which is compatible tape model). I also think it waste blank tape a lot on both ends. But, overall, it's a great useful machine. It's bad that Brother does not provide COVER for it. They sell it separately to make $$s. I am unhappy about this.
Has anyone purchased cover for this model? If so, where did you purchase it from and for how much? Tx.
