Amazon.com Product Description The Motorola Talkabout FV200AA GMRS/FRS Two-way Radios, which replaces the T4500 model, offers active families a simple and affordable way to stay in touch. With an improved outdoor range of up to five miles, these sleek and compact, water-resistant radios can fit in the palm of your hand or into a pocket. The FV200AA features audible call tones that grab the attention of your family and friends before you even start talking. A talk confirmation tone will sound when the push-to-talk button is released -- signaling when the other user has stopped talking. An audible low-battery alert ensures that you'll have plenty of notice that your batteries are running low. Note: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that operators on General Mobile Service (GMRS) and Private Land Mobile (PLM) frequencies obtain an FCC license prior to use. Safety Link February 16, 2010 K. Marr (Arizona) I purchased these radios for my 89 year old father who is getting frail and having trouble walking on uneven ground. He still works in his garden and sells plants. These are a way for him to communicate with my sister in the house should he fall or if she needs him for something she can talk to him also. They have taken a lot of stress off my sister and my father doesn't think of them as a medical device that will bring the ambulance or Para Medics.
I recommend these radios for many purposes. February 5, 2010 M. Bank (Maracaibo) These are very compacts radios to enjoy with friends and relatives. But they are also resistants so you can use it for many of job applications. The Battery Life is very good and you can keep in touch in a wide area.

They are liars and Bilkers, claiming that the level of transmission 5 miles In fact, he did not exceed 0.8 miles.
When i asked them to clarify, they have said that if you do not like it send it back to us , and we do not have any device with a range of 5 miles

fun for kids, but not huge range October 24, 2008 K. Stewart (Connecticut) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This walkie talkie set is perfect for kids because it doesn't have many buttons. The range, however, is not 5 miles.
