Good Price, Good Quality November 9, 2008 netgarou (San Francisco, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've ordered these a few times from Abacus. When I ordered, I recieved OA100 brand tanks with chip included. However, the description has since changed, so it's hard to know whether the new ones include chip or not. I would assume no, until you find out otherwise. But, in general I have found this when dealing with Abacus24-7: They usually sell OA100 ink. The colorfastness is good, although the ink is water soluble (don't wash your printouts). I've never tested to see if the OEM Canon ink is also water soluble or not. The quality of the cartridges and ink is really good, and is cheaper than Canon's brand, although because the newer printers that use the CLI-8 requires inktank chips, it increases the cost significantly. Thus the difference in price between Canon and 3rd party ink is not as big for these.
[ZERO STARS] Absolutely Awful Product - Worst on Amazon January 29, 2008 J. Mourer (MI) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
This purchase represents the biggest source of frustration & waste of money and time of my life (I'm 37). The ink packs leaked profusely, especially the black one, runied my pants and shirt. And to make matters more frustrating, the ink tank wasn't recognized (and yes, I properly seated the electronic chip obtained from a "real" Canon tank). After trying different minor variations to no avail, I threw the packs away (all but one leaked when the cover was removed). I think Canon's firmware is wise to this; perhaps my printer is too new (it's a 2007 MP600, though). I have heard from several amatures and a friend who is a pro photographer that the generic inks produce noticably inferior print quality; the build quality is about the worst I've seen in a production product (I'm a test engineer). Canon spends a ton of money perfecting their formulas & processes for ink (and paper, too). It may not inavalidate your warranty (a silly tale), but I would not accept $100 in exchange for dealing with these awful inks again (if I could get them to work, that is). Also, the item deserves zero stars but I was forced to award one (a star implies some positive attribute, of which this item has not one).

They work well September 4, 2007 Ed Mongillo (wallingford, ct usa) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
You save some money, but as instructed, you have to take the metal chip off of the existing cartridge and install it on the new one. It works fine.
