I already had a Garmin swivel mount that came with the Nuvi GPS unit, but I needed a second one so I purchased this to use in my other car. So this review compares the original Garmin mount that came with the GPS unit, and this aftermarket one.
Basically, the aftermarket mount works. It is similar to the Garmin suction mount - it includes the base for the Nuvi, swivel mount w. suction cup, and a power cord. The suction cup works, and Nuvi fits in the base, and it charges via the power cord.
However, there are a couple of things that were not as good when compared to the mount from Garmin.
The swivel has limited movement - it only swivels on two dimensions -- up/down and left/right, but it does not rotate (so if the display is a little tilted counterclockwise, you can't rotate clockwise to adjust it). The range of tilting is also a bit limited.
The Nuvi fits into the base, but just barely. It's a much tighter fit than the Garmin mount, and you have to fiddle with it a little before you can get it to slide into the connector. So it takes two hands to connect the Nuvi to the base, while on the original Garmin mount you can slide it in with one hand (convenient for when you are driving).
So if you want something basic that you won't use often but will work in a pinch, this is decent value. If you want something that you'll be using often and works very well, go with the original mount from Garmin.
