Met most of my expectations September 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
1. nice size screen 2. vast book collection 3. books cheaper than mobipocket ebooks or PDABookstore. 4. easy page turning, index and contant browsing 5. reasonably placed keyboard 6. wish it could link with Rhapsody togo. 7. wireless downloads reliable and fast. 8. Back plate comes off too easily. 9. very light weight and fairly thin. 10. i use a headlight set to low to read in bed. Aside from blinding my wife when i turn to kiss her, i remind her of the teenage nerdy John Cusack in sweet 16.
My Favorite Technological Innovation of 2008 September 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the Kindle. It has brought the joy of reading back into my life. Amazon really nailed it. I've bought 2 others since for gifts for my wife and assistant. Highly recommended.
Kindle the new book September 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Kindle is a remarkable device the only limiting thing I have found is that the research (in my case) books for archaeology is limited, hopefully this will change in the future but that was the principle reason for my purchase. Still of the books I have read and taken clippings from it has been a very helpful device. Also it is a pleasure to read as the pages are not back lit it doesn't bother the eyes as much as a computer screen.

Kindle Not So Great September 5, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this gift for my daughter's 17th birthday. The Kindle device had problems with getting a strong signal and was very slow every time I tried to navigate between different screens. Most times, the Kindle device would freeze and lock up. I was able to download books successfully from my Amazon account. The Kindle advertisements bragged about download in less than 1 minute, but actually took closer to 10 minutes. I also attempted to download some books for a 5-year old, but found a traditional book with color and pictures to be much more stimulating for a young child. Also, the selection of books for a 5-year old are not very good. My Kindle is now dead, less than 2 weeks after my daughter opened this for her birthday. I plan to return it for a refund.
