Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
With the SportaPro you can do sports and enjoy music at the same time, even in the crowded place it will be only you who will enjoy the sound fully. Flexible headband design allows listener to wear the headband on top of or behind the head, it is great for active sports or when wearing a cap or hat. The dynamic element design ensures deep bass performance to be well, the foam ear cushions make the sound open and are transparent for sound. They are also collapsible for easy travel and storage.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Koss SportaPro portable headphones offer portability, flexibility, and a headband designed to be worn either atop or behind the head. Equally well suited for use at work or on a jogging trail, the SportaPro's open, foam-covered ear cups allow for ambient environmental sounds to be heard, which can be helpful in a recreational environment.

The SportaPro's weight is a mere 2.2 ounces, and the headphones boast a frequency response of 15 to 25,000 Hz, delivering (on paper, at least) quite a bit more bass than most home speakers can. Impedance is 60 ohms, with less than a 0.2 percent distortion and sensitivity of 103 dB SPL (with a 1 mW signal).

The SportaPro stereophones are collapsible and come with a carrying case, as well as both 0.125-inch and 0.25-inch jacks. Koss covers the headphones with a lifetime warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Lasted a few months... AVOID this one   August 27, 2008
Worked and sounded pretty good for a few months, then the sound became distorted and every bit of bass was missing. I am now shopping for a QUALITY replacement for them.

-Very Disappointed in Koss

5 out of 5 stars Great Sound Great Price   August 15, 2008
I bought these from an affiliate seller as I live close to them here in NYC and I was able to save a few $$. These are great headphones but if you are expecting to block out all other noise, forget it. The way these are designed you are still able to hear what is going on around you which here in NYC is a good thing. You still hear the music which comes through loud and clear. I was hearing subtle notes and tones with these even through the surrounding street noise which I never did with my cheapo Colby headset which did a good job of blocking out noise when playing music.

There is good tension on the metal headband but the way this is designed with foam rests make for a very comfortable fit. I have worn these for a number of hours straight with glasses without any discomfort.

This has a straight plug which I like as it does not interfere with the case for my iphone 3G. When a call comes in I just unplug the headphone and move the speaker off of my ear. I do not have to worry about breaking these as they are of a solid construction. Even if they did break, Koss provides a LIFETIME warranty though the cost of shipping is about 25% of what I paid. If these ever do break I may just buy a different pair but who knows.

To sum up, these are probably the best bang for your buck for over the head phones. They are not pretty though so if you are more concerned with looks than with good sound go buy something else.

4 out of 5 stars Sounds Great! Butt Ugly!   August 5, 2008
I am enthusiastically ambivalent. These headphones sound GREAT. Not just good, but great. Although [...] rated these badboys a notch or a half below Koss's flagship portapros, I'm having a hard time hearing the difference.

As of this moment (hey, I've only had them for a few hours), they actually sound both slightly better and slightly worse.

THE GOOD:
1. Although Koss cans have a rep for being bassy (albeit in a very controlled fashion), I find the sportapros to have a flatter response from low to hi than the portapros, which clearly emphasize the bass.

THE BAD:
1. The portapros have a clear edge in the mids and highs. No contest. The portapros create a larger, more realistic soundstage. They are also undeniably LOUDER than the sportapros. You'll have to crank up the sports a bit to get optimal sound quality and volume.

THE UGLY:
1. These are hands down the UGLIEST, [...] ugly, fugly 'phones you will ever see or wear. I took a look at the phones on my head, in the cooler more hip strap behind the head position, and my heart sank. You WILL look like Lando Calrissian's assistant from The Empire Strikes Back (that's not a good thing, btw), whether you want to or not.

CONCLUSION:
1. outstanding sound for very little money. These are not true audiophile headphones, and neither are the portapros. The ports exaggerate bass albeit in controlled fashion, and the sports while having a flatter bass response, produces mids and highs which are not nearly as impressive.

I'll keep looking for the perfect price/performance/esthetics equation. Grados and Senns are up next...

4 out of 5 stars quality for the money   July 27, 2008
Only on-the-ear headphone I have used. Very comfortable. Highs and midrange are very nice however I expected more bass (may be an ear fit issue). I also expected a more compact fold-up. Otherwise, I am very happy with them.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Sound   July 10, 2008
I am pleased! The Koss SportaPro Headphones deliver outstanding sound quality. Not only are they a major improvement in sound, they are also much more comfortable to wear than the ear plugs that came with my MP3 player. I have read, and believe it is good advice to replace the headphones (ear plugs) that come with a new MP3 player. After using the Koss SportaPro Headphones I am convinced. What an incredible difference it makes. I did my research before buying these, and I'm glad I did. They deliver a deep, rich stereo sound for a reasonable price. I think you'll be hard pressed to find this sound quality in another headphone for under a hundred dollars.
