Listening to Music
The Jabra BT8040 is capable of streaming music over Bluetooth--either from a mobile phone or any other Bluetooth device supporting A2DP. Once you have paired your BT8040 with your mobile phone or to the Bluetooth music player, use your phone or music player to play, pause, stop, skip forward, or backward. When you receive a call, the music will be automatically suspended and you will be able to answer or reject a call through the headset. Once you end a call, the music should restart. On some phones and music devices you may have to press "play" to restart the music.

Using Jabra BT8040 with Two Mobile Phones
Jabra BT8040 is capable of having two mobile phones (or Bluetooth devices) connected to the headset at the same time. This will give you the freedom of having only one headset to operate both of your mobile phones. Please note that Last Number Redial will dial the number from the last outgoing call, independent of the mobile phones, and the Voice Dialing function will only work on the last paired mobile phone.

5 out of 5 stars Good hands-free device and music profile is a nice bonus   February 27, 2010
David Snook (Woodinville, WA)
Lightweight, somehow manages to stay in my ear without any hooks, good sound quality for calls and the music (A2DP) profile is a nice extra.

5 out of 5 stars Great Bluetooth   December 19, 2009
J. Mooney (Atlanta GA)
This is a very good headset. I have had several headsets and this one is by far the best. Its small, light weight and comfortable. The sound quality is very good for the user and the listener.

3 out of 5 stars Good compromise   December 9, 2009
Richard Cousins (Galveston)
This is a good compromise for those who need to pair with a cellphone and a music player. The sound quality is best for audio books and podcasts. Not really up to music listening, besides who wants music in mono? The outgoing voice quality on a cell conversation is marginal at best. The microphone is simply too far from the source to pick up well and I do get complaints versus other headsets I've used. But it does work in a pinch, and listening is OK.

Battery life is about 4-6 hours, continuous use. The most attractive feature is the A2DP compatibility. Otherwise, there's nothing to recommend this model over others. Also, a price point of less than $50 should be about right. It's quality doesn't justify more.

4 out of 5 stars 4 months and it gradually has stopped working   November 8, 2009
R. Goyal (Dearborn, MI)
At first it worked perfectly. Then the double tap to redial stopped working as well as press and hold in order to activate the voice dial. Or actually the voice dial stopped first I think then the redial stopped working later. That was something I could live without though, but now in the fourth month, the answer button doesn't answer the call at all. It makes the beep sound but the call doesn't come over to the headset. I have to answer the call on the phone itself, so all it's good for now is to listed to audio. I had just bought some eargels for it which were cheap so its not a big deal. But the little thing just doesn't seem like its well made, and I don't know if I can depend on another Jabra headset. Also they have nothing on the website to troubleshoot the headset not answering calls!!! Obviously I cannot recommend this product at this point. Before this issues it worked good, but you can usually hear better than the person you are speaking with on the phone can hear you.

UPDATE: I reset it according to their directions (which I didn't understand at first because I never even knew there were two volume buttons on top - I never read the manual of course) and it fixed ALL THREE problems! Updated to four stars only because of the low mic but that is to be expected really with how small it is.

5 out of 5 stars Use it to listen to music from Treo   October 21, 2009
JimH (Texas)
I bought this to listen to music from my Treo while walking. It keeps one ear free to listen for dogs and cars while combining right and left music channels in the other ear (a feature I have not been able to find in a hard wired earbud). Hints for Treo users - 1: you will need Audio Gate to transmit the A2DP music standard to the headset. 2: the components do not always work together easily for music. Turning on Audio Gate and the headset at the same time to make them link up seems to work best. Using it with the phone is seemless but sound performance is a matter of preference - some of the people I talk with love it and others do not. It does not seem like it would stay in place but it does, even while running.
