Product Description With High Definition broadcast fast approaching, Panasonic's LM-BE50DE Blu-ray disc has been launched to satisfy the needs of those who are looking for high quality, high definition recording.Blu-ray discs are able to record and playback extensive quantities of high definition video and audio, as well as photos, data and other video content. A single-layer Blu-ray disc, which is the same size as a DVD, can hold up to a staggering 50 GB of data (in comparison to a single layer DVD which holds 4.7GB) - that's more than four hours of high-definition video or about 26 hours of standard video with no loss of quality.Blu-ray discs enable you to instantly skip to any spot on the disc and create, edit or re-order programmes and play lists, thus enabling easy navigation around the discs. What' s more, you can watch one programme whilst recording another, Panasonic's Blu-ray discs offer the ultimate in flexible DVD recordingPanasonic's LM-BE50DE re-writable Blu-ray disc uses an original, highly sensitive and durable recording film. This further enhances the stable recording and playback characteristics and is of particular importance for PC use, where data is frequently rewritten. The result is crisp and clear recordings every time.Adding to this durability, Panasonic Blu-ray discs use an advanced spin coating process technology to form the cover layer with extremely uniform thickness. This is the key element for stable and premium data recording. The discs also have a hard coated cover layer, which is a newly developed surface-treatment technology.

Works fine, but not time or cost effective July 24, 2008 Julien Pierre (Santa Clara, California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This disc worked fine with an LG GGW-H20L writer. However, it takes several hours to burn the whole disc at 2x. And the BD-RE is not competitive with hard drives given the 50 GB capacity. You can get a 250 GB SATA hard drive for about the same price as this disc as of this writing. The cost per GB should not be 5x that of hard drives.
Good BD-RE May 30, 2008 n0th1n9 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pro: It works great, no poblems here. Windows Vista natively supports Blue Ray for use with data. Cons: Price. Tip: Vista SP1 gives better performance with optical media especially Blue Ray.
