Great DL Disc August 19, 2008 Larry D. Weese (Amargosa Valley, NV) I've used several spindles of these discs and for the most part they work just fine in my HP940. As far as the problems some folks have had with playback...Some burners and/or software does not work well with DVD-R DL, but work fine with DVD+R DL. That also applies to players. The DVD player that came with my computer doesn't like "DL" disks while playing the 4.7 GB disks just fine. My HP940 plays them just fine. My old DVD player in my entertainment center didn't do well with "DL" discs either, while the newer one I bought has no problem with them. Also, some brands of discs seem to work better with certain burners than with others. My advice is: If you are just starting out with burning DVD's, experiment with different brands & speeds and when you find what works with your equipment stick with it...IMHO
Works Well On A Plextor June 4, 2008 Lahaina Joe (Maui or Santa Cruz) Hi All: They have hummed right along on my two Plextor burning drives and are read well on almost all my home DVD readers. Have had no problems but for the one, my old Panasonic DVD player, and it no longer reads any of the home recorded DVD media well (different burners and many different media brands).. I suspect it is just showing its age. Best.. Joe
Ridata DVD-R DL Printable Problems April 6, 2008 El Gato Prieto My Sony DRU-710A, which works absolutely fine, won't read these DVD's. My laptop, which also has a DL burner, won't read these DVD's. I wouldn't recommend Ridata. Stick with a major brand and you won't be out your hard-earned money. I'm pretty ticked off about it but you live and learn.
Burned by Ridata September 8, 2007 G. Tuley (Corpus Christi, Texas United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After I bought my MacBook Pro, which included an 8X double layer Super Drive, I lpurchased a set of Ridata 8X DL's. I immediately got error messages. I spent about an hour trying to get a clean burn. I tried varrying the size of the burn, the types of files, burning Mac only or Pc and Mac with no success. I used both the latest Roxio Toast program and the simpler Mac program. Nada. Then I put a Verbatim 4X Dl disk in the Mac and "no problema". The Verbatim disks worked with both programs. The Ridata would not even record. Not a very good buy!
movies skipped a lot May 12, 2007 Y. White (Anniston, AL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought these so that I could burn my movies at the highest quality possible. I even burned them at the slowest speed. When I tried to play them, most of them skipped so much it was ridiculous. When I burned the same movie on regular dvd-r, it played just fine. Don't know if it was my burner or just a bad set, but I ended up having to throw most of them away.
