Amazon.com Product Description The E580-2 is a 5.8 GHz cordless accessory handset for use with AT&T's E5860, E5865, E5900B, and E5965C expandable phone systems (required, sold separately). These base systems support up to eight handsets, giving you the flexibility to place an extension wherever you need one, without an additional phone jack. By utilizing the 5.8 GHz band and frequency-hopping digital spread spectrum technology, the E580-2 offers clearer reception and less interference than traditional 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz models. | With just one phone jack, the system supports up to eight extensions throughout your home, depending on your base unit. | Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the E580-2 has a 50-number caller ID memory, as well as image ID and personalized ringer options. The LCD with graphical display has an icon-driven menu to help you navigate the phone's functions, while a 50-number internal phone directory helps you to keep track of all your important phone numbers. Vibrating ringer and polyphonic musical ring tone settings are available, and a headset jack allows you to connect an optional headset for hands-free communication. You can retrieve messages from the base unit using the handset, while the intercom feature allows you to speak with other handset locations. With conferencing, you can speak to multiple parties at the same time, and a call transfer function lets you route incoming calls to another handset. An illuminated keypad is provided for ease of dialing, and a low battery indicator lets you know when to return the base to its handset for recharging. Flash, hold, mute, and redial (last 10) buttons are also provided. The E580-2 comes backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Cordless handset, remote charger stand, two AA NiMH batteries, belt clip, user's manual

Perfect September 15, 2008 S. Nelson (Colorado) This was a replacement product and was actually an upgrade to our previous model. This model displays in color and still coordinated with the base set. So if you need an E580-1 replacement, this newer model works.
Great phone August 5, 2008 Patty P (Littleton, Co USA) I purchased the AT&T phone E5800 series phone that came with only 1 expansion phone and I needed 1 more. I can't be more pleased with this phone. I have had it for several years and have never had a problem with it. It is easy to use and very dependable. I would recommend it without hesitation.
Love this phone! January 30, 2008 Cherrene Mccarthy (fayetteville, Ga. 30215) The answering machine is one of the best I have owned. It is costly but worth it. Additional expansions up to eight can be added. The intercom I use the most!! If you have a large house, like I have, can page anyone in any room. Great advantage for you if you are disabled, busy, need a question answered, need help, or want to tell someone something and don't want to yell. It's great for your entire family. Reception is excellent.
AT&T 580-2 Handsets SUCK January 25, 2008 Edward P. Barbari I have three of these in my house - all bought in September of 2006. One of these was replaced within the first year and the replacement doesn't work at all now. I swapped out batteries from a phone that does work so I know that it is not a problem with the batteries. Another phone now has so much static when in use that it is untolerable to listen or talk using that phone. The third phone works great for a minute or two and then it just goes dead. Initially I was very positive about these phones, but now I have nothing but a bunch of crappy phones that cost me several hundred of dollars. It's ironic that they all seemed to have problems shortly after the one-year manufacturer's warranty expired. If you risk buying any of these handsets, the extended warranty might actually make sense since the product has such poor quality.
ATT cordless phone E580-2 April 2, 2007 R. G. Haynes I had the base unit and 4 expansion units prior to purchasing the 5th expansion unit. I really like the features and the reliability of the phones over the many other brands and types I've tried in the past.
