This does not work reliably. It often shows the battery is good when in fact it is dead.

I love this battery tester. It's very easy to use and it saves you from throwing away a perfectly good battery.

2 out of 5 stars Measures SOMETHING - but what? and resolution so-so   October 21, 2008

This is supposed to test your batteries for good/replace-Recharge.
On the good side - it is small, and does SOMETHING.
On the not-so-good side
1. WHAT does it measure? this is not clear. There is no manual, and the
scale is unlabeled. I am *assuming* it measures voltage, but I have no
clue if this is under some sort of load or not, and so the results are
not very convincing
2. If it DOES mesure Voltage, this is not so good for Rechargeable
Batteries, as they only give out 1.2V even when fully charged.
2. The scale has strange proportions, with more than 2/3rd of it for "bad"
and only about 20% for "Good". This is not very useful.

I had a drawer FULL of half used batteries from mics used for some community theatre and didn't know how much was left in them. I hate to throw useful things away, so I picked this up. It works perfectly! Very simple, easy to read, no frills, just a pretty accurate battery tester. If you've got a crap load of batteries and you have NO IDEA how much juice is left pick this up. Heck, grab this with another order and get free shipping, it's a great filler item.

This is a great little tool. I had another brand like this one, and wore it out. Nearly every other replacement requires a battery, but not this one. It is compact, works easily and quickly, and as I am old enough to have grown up with analog gauges and dials, I can read it just fine. I am a little worried about the spring that closes the jaw of the tool, but the meter will still function even if it does die, so I'm not too worried.
