The Loc8tor pack is an ideal gadget that will help you find lost or mislaid possessions. Loc8tor can be used to find almost anything which has a homing tag attached to it - keys digital cameras TV remotes cats mobile phones wallets purses and many many more. Attach a mini homing tag to any valuable that you need to protect. Locate mode Is for Finding. To find an item simply select from a drop down list on your handheld which tag you want to locate. Directional audio and visual cues from the handheld will guide you to the exact location of the missing tag. I haven't had it for too long, but have tried it out in several situations. I got it for my 4 year old son, hoping the daycare could use it when they went on field trips. For some reason, when I researched it, I thought the tags would beep when in "alert" mode, so that my son would be aware that he was too far away and take his own initiative to move back into range. But they don't; they only beep when in "locate" mode.
It seems very good for alerting you when a tag gets too far away. The "N" or near selection is the only one I'd use in a crowded place- it allows over 30 feet of distance before alarming with beeping and vibration of the handheld.
The location mode is not as good. I tested it in the backyard, and when he went around the house it alerted that he was too far away. But when I went to "locate", it told me I had to move to find the tag. It didn't start to locate the tag till I was probably 50 feet away from him. Inside a building it was even worse- probably only about 20 feet before it picked up a signal and started to locate. If he were hiding, it would still be good for locating him, but it doesn't seem to find the signal until you are at a distance that you would be able to see him.
I will keep it just because of the alert mode- I like having an extra safety net in case he'd get too far away from me.

Bought this for my girlfriend who is always misplacing her keys and other accessories. It has been a huge help that she uses at least twice a week! And, yes, it works very well!

I am not one to write reviews, but I had to, being that this product has literally changed my life. I have a medical condition which causes me to forget where I put things quite often - and throughout my life I have lost thousands of dollars worth of cell phones, cameras, etc. I have purchased other products like this to help me track things down - but nothing worked NEARLY as well as the loc8tor. I bought it from the UK a few years ago and am happy to see Amazon is now selling it here in the USA. The tracking device works so well that I don't even have to leave my second floor apartment for it to detect a tag that's on an item in my car parked outside. I love this item and trust me, you will too if you tend to misplace things.

I purchased this system to replace the "Now you can find it" system that I had, which had gone bad in less than a year. This system works much better by far. It has excellent range, the tag are very small and the display will actually help guid you to your lost items. The tags themselves also beep while being located and have a small blinking light also. I find it very handy. You can have up to 24 tags in the system and can name each one. The only downsides that I have found thus far are that the audio "pitch" does not change on my unit, so it's harder to determine that you're gettiing closer without closely watching the screen. I had done a great deal of research on this item before purchasing it, and every review I watched showed this feature and the product description also states this, however, mine doesn't seem to work. My audio stays exactly the same no matter how close I get and tends to cut in and out a lot while moving around. Also, you are supposed to be able to adjust the keypad volume and locate volume separately, but this does not work; adjusting the locate volume has no effect on anything and adjusting the keypad volume effects everything. I have sent numerous e-mails to the company over the past 90 days and have received no response, aside from an automated acknowledgement that they received my inquiry. This has been disappointing, as my unit may just be defective, but now it's far past the timeframe which I could have received an exchange. All and all, I'm ok with the purchase, as it does at least allow me to locate my items. It was a bit costly, but it makes up for it in actually working well, so that's better than wasting money on something that doesn't work well for a short while, then dies. I've had this system over 3 months and so far it's working just fine. I would recommend this product, but I'm not impressed with the company's support of it.
