Works exactly like it should! September 28, 2008 jazzkittykat (Berkeley, CA USA) I've been very happy with this product - it does exactly what I wanted it to do without any hassle. Unlike some other reviews, I had no problem loading the software. Whenever I connect the dock, all of my peripherals are easily recognized and immediately usable. This product has allowed me to clear my desk of a ton of unruly cords and wires and made it extremely easy for my to connect my ultraportable laptop (a Lenovo IdeaPad u110 running Windows Vista) to my many devices. It's true that this dock doesn't have video included, but I actually think that's fine, since none of the video docks currently available are compatible with the latest widescreen monitors (check this carefully before you purchase one of them thinking that they are!). I really appreciate being able to connect my speakers through this dock. In any case, I've had a great experience with this product and enthusiastically recommend it to any of you looking for a way to reclaim some desk space and save yourself some time. Great buy!
why wouldn't you make it charge September 11, 2008 David A. Kizer 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If this was a true docking station don't you think they would make it charge your laptop when it is plugged in. This is just a large USB plug port. Worthless as an actual docking station. NO CHARGE NO MONITOR OUTPUT!!!
It works... April 5, 2008 Joshua Smeraldi Its works great but I cant close or turn off my laptop with it still plugged in the USB port. Im using Windows Vista. If I leave it plugged in when I turn my laptop off it takes longer to shutdown, or it just stalls with an error coming up. Then when I turn it back on my laptop says it recovered from an unexpected shutdown. Its a minor inconvenience to always remember to unplug it before I turn off my laptop, but other than that it works like it should.
not a docking station IMO January 27, 2008 Connecticut Cowboy (Connecticut) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I find this "docking station" pretty useless because it does not hook into an external monitor, a key peripheral when I use my laptop at home. A true docking station is all-inclusive; this one is an overpriced item saving someone with a bluetooth computer only from connecting to a printer and speakers.
Not worth it January 18, 2008 Biron (Fresno, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
the software seems to have compatibility issues with what is on my computer. It often malfunctions, causing me to have to reboot. The internet will cut out for no reason, and there is no guaranty that rebooting will restore it. Sometimes I can get it to work again by disabling it and re-enabling it, but that too is sporadic. Can't something just "work"? I've had it unplugged for the last couple weeks, unsure that it will even work as an unpowered usb hub (because the software won't let it). No instructions on how to uninstall the driver and I can't seem to find it with Window's add/remove program utility.
