If two NB-2LH batteries are inserted, power is supplied simultaneously by both battery packs. If both NB-2LH packs are fully charged then the number of frames you can capture are doubled. The BG-E3 adds a portrait grip with a vertical shutter release complete with AE/FE-Lock button, AF point selector button, exposure compensation button and Main Dial. If you use big zooms or telephoto lenses then the BG-E3 should be considered as a "must have" accessory. Grip is OK, important for Canon XTi users with large hands. Battery delivered with the grip was not a genuine NB-2LH (although that label was on the package). Error was in the Amazon description. Product is "just like" the NB-2LH except in price and possibly value. Package declares "Get maxim run time on a single charge." Made in China.
