Noise Reducing Headphones July 9, 2008 These are great. After a trip from California to Romania and back they allowed me to get several hours of uninterrupted sleep. I've tries the Bose and these work just as well
Expert Gadget Guy July 7, 2008 Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Ok I have owned 3 pairs of the Bose Quiet 2 Comforts and I must tell you that I didn't want to buy a 4th. I noticed that the Bose are everything they claim to be but they are NOT durable. I didn't want to spend another $300 for bose headsets and I needed a good quality noise cancelling headset because I work around very loud automation machinery. Well I put the Audio-Tech's on and was immediately impressed I listen to some of my favorite well balanced tunes like Toni Braxton her music typically has great bass and treble. Well I was impressed with the sound it was moderate but nice....but wait then I realized in my haste I forgot to turn them on they blew BOSE away!!!!!!!!! I can't beat it the price either only $99 I saved $200 plus shipping!!!!! Even if they are not durable like the Bose ARE I would still save in the long run.
Good headphones July 7, 2008 This is a good pair of comfortable, noise-cancelling headphones. They collapse easily and the hard case does a good job of protecting them in my backpack. The noise-cancelling seems to be more effective at low frequencies, so you can still hear some of the higher frequency noises, but all-in-all, seems to work well. The audio playback is very high quality, although bass is somewhat attenuated.
Interestingly, although the audible noise is cancelled within the headphones, the SPL is not changed, or even seems somewhat higher. What this means is that, although you don't hear the noise, the pressures experienced by your ear are still the same. So I wouldn't plan on using these in any type of environment that could cause permanent hearing loss. This is my first pair of noise-cancelling headphones, so I'm not sure if this is the case with all types of headphones, or just these in particular.
Great value for the price July 5, 2008 I purchased over a year ago and waited to review until I fully appreciated the product. As with most people I compare the product with the Bose products. Dollar for dollar there is no comparison. At approximately half the price, the sound quality and noise reduction are equal. I say that after having tested both items. As for durability, my Audio Tech headphones are in the same condition today as when I bought them. I use them regularly, traveling approximately two times per month. Reviews on the Bose headphones mention concerns about durability. Battery life is also great, and the ability to use the headphones without a connecting wire, for noise reduction is a definite plus. The only possible negative is that when wearing them on an international trip, say ten hours or more while sleeping, they are not as comfortable as the Bose model in that the ear pieces are more solidly constructed. This may go back to the durability issue. All in all a great purchase that I would do again in a heartbeat!
Great noise-reduction headphone for the price July 5, 2008 I have not try this headphone on a plane yet. However, for regular use the sound quality and accoustic for Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 is much better when the switch for Active Noise-Cancellation is turned "On". The design of the headphone with over the ears fit quite well and comfortable to wear over a long period of time. For the money that I paid for this headset ($120), they are worth every penny. The sound quality is right up there with the Bose QC2 or 3 except ANC7 use 1 single AAA battery that can be easily replaced while Bose do not use AAA battery but rechargeable battery. If the battery is out of juice, you will have to find a place to recharge the battery. All in all, this is a great headphone for it price. I can buy 3 sets for the price of one Bose headphone.
