didn't work July 13, 2008 Judith B. Josepshs this product didnnt owrk on my computer, i ended up reselling, at a 10% loss, & then the next buyer also had a problem with it
Good Value April 14, 2008 Quantum Palindrome (NY, NY) A good working hard-drive. I would suggest to buyers to beware of the "WD-Sync" software; I lost a lot of data because this program is tricky and does not do what it indicates it is doing. This drive is better for drag and drop usage.
Excellent Portable Storage February 20, 2008 midnight821 (Kentucky) I have owned several Western Digital Passport drives and a few other mobile drive brands. This drive is great for backups, as you can hook it up fast without a power supply and store it anywhere. Put it in your briefcase, put it in your safe, take it with you anywhere and keep a copy of your data. It is almost pocket-size and the only thing you have to keep with you is a short USB cable. Some people consider the short cable that's included to be too short, but it's mobile! Some owners have commented on needing a power adapter or extra usb cable for it, but I've never had that issue. I've used it on multiple desktops and multiple laptops with no issues at all, but you'll have to try it on your own system. The surface of the Passports (shiny, black material) can be easy to scratch if you throw it around or keep it in your bag with other items. That would be my only complaint, but it doesn't really bother to me. The speed is very responsive. I've used it on an XP and Vista machine and both have copied data to it fairly quick. I haven't performed tests on it, but it always gets the job done for me. If you can get a bigger version (120, 250, 320gb) for a little more money, then go for it! WORD OF CAUTION: The price of the Passport drives (all models) changes frequently. Watch the prices for a few days and you'll be able to get a big drive (250-320gb) for a good price.
Power Problems December 31, 2007 R. Neumann (FL USA) I bought the 80 GB drive, it was a great price, very cool and a useful product when it works; I have a ton of pictures, music and files in needed to back up. It looks great and performs well when you can get it to power up. The major problem with the drive is that it does not work with all USB ports. I have a laptop with a docking station and the drive won't run off the docking station. I have to undock and then directly connect it to my laptop. I have had similar problems with other computers. This can be annoying when trying to transfer files. I don't know that I would buy another one...I think I will spend a little more money next time to try and get more reliable performance. Although, I have heard this is a consistent problem with other drives as well. I thought because of the small size I would not have this issue.
Easy to use, Nice portable size November 25, 2007 E. Lawinger (Sauk Centre, MN) I use this portable drive for my business. I have several other larger Seagate hard drives, but this one is a nice portable size I can throw in my briefcase. I have had no problems with it so far ,as others have mentioned. I use it between a laptop computer that is XP operating system and a desktop that is Vista Operating system. I would defienetely recommend.
