Potential speed bump September 21, 2008 Stevie (Boston MA) I bought this mainly because of the cost and because I had a HDMI cable and not a HDMI-DVI cable in my stash. I thought that I'd try this before I went the other option. I have probably quite a unique use of it. I have an old plasma that doesn't have HDMI but is cable of providing 1080p via the VGA port. So I initially purchased a HDFury (which rocks) and only had a monster 8ft hdmi available so I thought I'd try this... In most cases it works great, however during quick action shots (sports + action films) I see the stuttering of pixels. I tried with and without it and got much better results without to be fair. That said my tests were not 100% conclusive but with what I had it did seem to point to the adapter. What I didn't do is test on a shorter than 16ft hdmi cable. I did read a few places that these adapters can act as a speed bump... I'm sure I'll use it somewhere but for now the jury is out hence the 3/5.
No complaints September 20, 2008 David Robins Works great for our MythTV box's TV output. Don't be taken in by promises by people selling higher-priced connectors; with DVI and HDMI, the digital signal means cheap connectors usually work just as well.
Works as expected August 26, 2008 Michael J. Feeney (Atlanta, GA) Using two of these connectors and an HDMI cable, I was able to go from DVI on the computer to DVI on the monitor without a problem. Handy for older devices without HDMI.
Good August 8, 2008 John S (FL) Worked great. The only thing was that the the screws that hold it on to the connector are really small in diameter and hard to turn with my fingers.
Not so great... August 4, 2008 Narut Ujnat (San Diego, CA USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I will say that I typically do not like buying expensive name brands like Monster when looking for cables. I bought this for the low price and I eagerly hooked it up to my brand new monitor. So far so good as I laughed about how suckers bought the Monster adapter. However, after about a week I noticed that I was getting green and red dots on images. I first believed it was my video card, and then the monitor itself. However, after I replaced the expensive Monster adapter, the problems ceased. Perhaps I had a defective adapter, but that is my experience and I thought I would share it with the potential buyer. Buyer beware.
