Amazon.com Product Description
As if the 50mm drivers inside the Skullcandy Hesh headphones didn't provide a big enough sound, the parabolic backing of its ear cups further focus and intensify your choice of music.

Hesh features a thick, black-leather padded, over-the-head band with metal outer studs and the Skullcandy logo. The silver ear cups are decorated with logos and skull artwork. The ear pads are made from a soft material called Leather Touch and are designed to fit comfortably around the ear to reduce outside noise. A convenient in-line volume control makes it easy to turn down or totally mute your music without having to fumble for the knob on your music player.

The Skullcandy Hesh headphones come with a 6.3mm adapter plug designed to fit most home stereo systems and a headphone travel bag.

5 out of 5 stars Great product for the price...   August 27, 2008
I'm not like a professional or sound engineer or anything... :P
... but I really like these headphones! The sound quality is great and the Bass is incredible... I've been through like a handfull of headphones, and these are the best buy yet! Very powerfull sound! Impressive...
I wouldn't shed out 50 bones for them, but you can get them at a really good price of >> $35 << if you get them from RCS Experience through Amazon.

2 out of 5 stars Okay phones, not worth the price   August 23, 2008
Let's start out with the big pro to these phones: They look nifty, and shiny too. The big, bulky, monster cups have a charming retro appeal, and the shiny silver skull on simple black background design is satisfying on some slightly ridiculous level to, well, probably everyone. Another slightly useful feature is the cord, which comes with a free extension so you can customize the cord length to either ridiculously short, or average.

On to the cons; the sound here is really only decent. The bass is nice enough, although a bit fake-sounding, the mids and highs are muddy but better than a standard pair of 20 dollar headphones; notice that I didn't say 30 dollar headphones. The sound leakage is also a lot more than I would expect from its circumaural design; these phones are absolutely not for mass transit use. However, it's the comfort level of these phones where they fall well below the average mark for their price; the phones pinch your ears and form a vacuum-tight seal around the general area of the sides of your head. Using these phones while exercising is a great way to make your ears and head incredibly hot, red, and uncomfortable. Using these phones at a computer is also next to impossible, as after half hour or so it feels like the edges of your ears are beginning to implode from the cramping and suction.

I got these phones at a pretty decent sale price and I would still say I didn't get my money's worth; all in all I wouldn't recommend buying them at any price over 20 dollars. Sennheiser or Grado Labs headphones at this price blow these things away in every respect, except, perhaps, nifty-skull-lookingness.

2 out of 5 stars spend your money elsewhere   August 23, 2008
being the audiophile i am, i'm looking for something that sounds great but also affordable being on a very tight budget. I was recommended skullcandy a few years ago which were said to be a quality product. i usually used their smokin' buds which had excellent sound for its ten dollar price tag, but eventually a few months down the road one bud would quit on me. however, i picked this product up just a few months ago imagining that i'm paying for even better sound and quality. However, the sound quality was rather sub-par, even inferior to their smokin' buds. it mellows out the sound erasing the dynamics to deliver the most inferior sound your fifty dollar can buy. After my dog took the courtesy of chewing them up, i had the opportunity to take it apart to reveal their construction. Honestly, these headphones aren't worth 50 dollars; most of what we're paying is bulk plastic for a mediocre sound with the same quality as their 10 dollar buds. save the fifty for a better pair of headphones or perhaps a concert ticket to hear the real deal. needless to say, i've been looking to other brands for audio needs.

3 out of 5 stars Avoid if you're an audiophile   July 24, 2008
If you would consider yourself an audiophile and/or have owned a pair of Bose headphones, avoid these! I owned a pair of Bose Triports that broke and bought these hoping they would be a tolerable replacement for the money. Big mistake! I know I shouldn't have expected any comparison, as these are only 50 bucks, but they have raving reviews and some have even compared them to Bose. If all you care about is loudness, these are for you, as they are very loud, perhaps louder than Bose. Loudness does not equal quality or clarity, however. The frequency range on these headphones sucks! It starts at 100hz, so any frequency below that is cut out. You are missing a lot. They are also uncomfortable as others have said and hurt your ears after awhile. You can wear Bose for days and never be uncomfortable. I can also vacuum wearing Bose and not hear it. Not so with these. Those of you who think you are getting great quality at a low price are mistaken. It is well worth the $125(sale price)-$140(reg price) for Bose quality, which is something you won't find in these cheap headphones. If you want perfect sound quality, perfect comfort, and excellent noise canceling, put these back on the rack, save up some more money and spring for the Bose. I ended up returning these, sending my broken Triports (which are out of warranty) back to Bose, and they are sending me a brand new pair for only $60 bucks! ( only $10 more than these!) Trust me, if you're an audiophile, these headphones suck!

5 out of 5 stars Can't beat these!!!   July 16, 2008

These headphones are awesome what more can I say. After a little research I decided on these and they are worth the money. The first thing you notice is how good they sound and how much outside noise they cancel. They have a nice rich sound, good distinct highs and nice low and mid range response. They also are pretty comfortable, after a bit of adjusting they fit well, also cover the ear well, mine are pretty big and the fit is awesome. When at the store compared with a pair of Bose and they are very similar. If you are in the market don't think just get HESH you won't be disappointed they are candy for your skull.
