I did my research on Amazon and other sites such as B&H Photo Video, and the Sennheiser G2 was consistently touted as the best model for videographers. The videographer for my sister's wedding used the same model (though he sloppily mic'd my brother in law, which I fixed).
I bought this unit for a wedding at Chaminade in Santa Cruz, Ca. I used the autoscan on the receiver to find open channels, set the transmitter pac to that frequency, and then mic'd the groom. I did not experience any interference, I was even able to hear the groom when he was indoors and I was in the courtyard (several walls, probably 100-200 feet).
There are some concerns in other reviews about the quality of the included lavalier. I found the lavalier to be adequate, it even stood up to a slight wind (though i will probably buy a wind screen for the future).
I would highly recommend this unit to anyone needing solid performance form a wireless mic unit. It definitely not a casual investment, but it is a great unit.
**Uses and settings for the wedding**
Placement: Mic'd groom on his coat (his right side), half loop of wire through the alligator clip to prevent some rubbing. Twisty tied excess slack and tucked into groom's inside pocket, clipped transmitter unit to groom's belt on the back side.
Settings: -10 on the transmitter, -24 on the receiver. (PD170 settings) Set Mic 2 input to Mic, manual gain (half of bar or less), no 48v phantom.
The PD170 has two mic inputs, with the option of having Mic 1 going to both channels or only the first channel. Prior to the ceremony, I had the external shotgun mic going to both channels. When the ceremony started, I had the shotgun go to channel 1 and the wireless go to channel 2.

I have a Canon XHA1 that I use to film events and weddings. This set-up makes all the difference in the world when filming from a distance. I love the back lit screens, the various channel offerings and the lock feature. I have not had any problems with the set-up so far and paired it with a Sennheiser e835 hand held microphone. The sound quality is top notch and the range is amazing it has no problems with walls or crowds of people interfering with the signal strength! I would recommend this product to everyone.
There are a few things that I would change I suppose. 1. The interface for searching and selecting channels and other menus is a little complicated and takes a bit of practice to do quickly. 2. I wish it came with a case. I know there is a case available from Sennheiser as an optional accessory, but other set-ups I looked at came with a case. I solved this with a $40 professional foam case from Micro Center.
If you are looking for a professional grade microphone set you will not regret this purchase. I spent more than I could afford, but I couldn't be happier.

Excellent performance, intuitive set up and opertation. Extremely sensitive. The only problem is wind noise. On windy days even a fur wind shield does not protect from rumble. Could probably locate the lavalier mic on the inside of the clothing and still pick up excellent sound, but have not tried that yet. The camera mount receiver works very well. Have not yet used the wireless transmitter that will connect to any mic with an XLR connector, but it is worth having because you can convert any professional mic to a wireless system and use the kit receiver to pick up the sound. I am very happy with this kit, and the price is very good for a system of this quality.

I am a videographer, I specialize in weddings. I must say I have been trying to find a good wireless mic system for over a year now. I have done my homework and my conclusion was for the price this system is the best. It's easy to use, very well BUILT, and gives you great audio. If you are looking for a good wireless mic system BELIEVE me this is the one you want to buy. The cool part of this system is you can take the plug-in transmitter and plug it into a dynamic Sennheiser mic and Bam you now have a wireless handhled micrphone. In closing this is a great product and I can't stress enough if you want professional audio for under $1,000 than don't settle for anything else but this one I mean it.
