Product Description Shut off the outside world with MDR-NC6 noise canceling headphones. Ambient sound can be reduced over 10dB at 300Hz, which means you'll hear more music, and less plane/train/bus noise. Noise canceling headphones are great for work, traveling, or even when you're trying to sleep in a loud place. The MDR-NC6 has a slim swivel folding design, making them more compact for storage. Includes plug adaptor to connect directly to a stereo or dual jack of in-flight music services.
Amazon.com Product Description Small enough to keep with you at all times and ideal for achieving peace and quiet in planes, trains, buses, and cars, Sony's MDR-NC6 noise-canceling over-ear headphones reduce perceived outside noise by more than 70 percent (up to 10 dB at 300 Hz) so you can hear musical nuances against a quieter background. The headphones' noise-canceling circuit senses outside noise using tiny, built-in microphones and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the headphone drivers, effectively blocking solid-state (continuous) noise from 40 to 1,500 Hz. It's especially effective on noises like air-conditioning systems, freeway rumble, and airplane engines (from a passenger's perspective). The switchable noise-canceling circuitry runs for approximately 30 hours on a single AAA alkaline battery. When noise canceling is off, the headphones continue to function for standard music listening (and with slightly better sound quality). The headphones' neodymium-magnet diaphragms deliver powerful sound. The headphones and their swiveling earcups fold for easy storage, and a special supplied adapter facilitates use of the headphones with an airplane's audio system. What's in the Box Headphones, a carry pouch, an in-flight adapter, and a user's manual.

Sony Noise-Canceling Headset November 19, 2008 Renosheila (Reno NV) The headsets were received in just a few days, and they work great. I have to be careful when I put them on, because I can't hear anyone in the house trying to talk to me.
Headphone noise November 15, 2008 Michael Quattro Bought these headphones about 3 weeks ago and have found that I can only wear them for about 15-20 minutes max. The NR feature has a high pitch tone that drives me nuts when there is no music playing. When music is playing I can tolerate it for a little while. I have found that using the headphones with the NR feature off is a little more comfortable for me but the headphones do tend to push hard against your head getting very uncomfortable for long play listening. They do produce a nice sound if you can overlook these two things.
noise cancelling earphones November 11, 2008 Karla J. Maybon This product cancels noise great and allows both my boyfriend and I to enjoy two different listening situations without interfering with each other. They are heartier than others I have purchased in the past.
Headphone covers are foams - not vinyl November 10, 2008 Sanjiv Avashia (Champaign, IL) I wish description indicated type of headphone covers. Headphone covers are fragile foams. With $35 price tag, I was expecting more durable and easy to clean vinyl covers. Two weeks after purchase, Target offered same item at $29. I couldn't figure out how to request price match refund from Amazon. If Amazon indeed has this option, it must be well hidden somewhere.
good buy November 1, 2008 Rebecca R. Boyer (Virginia) The headphones do a great job suppressing most of the engine noise when I fly commercial.
