5 out of 5 stars This Item Does Work - Here Are Some Trouble Shooting Tips   September 15, 2008
Timothy T. (USA)
If you are thinking of purchasing this item, or happen to already own one. Here are some tips to have this working perfectly the first time.
-First, if you are splitting 1 item into 2 destinations or 2 sources into 1 amp (works both ways), use the SHORTEST optical cables possible with your set-up 3' optical cables will be combined to make over 6'.
-Second, if you are putting 2 sources into 1 amp, only have 1 source on at a time. Should be common knowledge, but just in case it wasn't thought of :)
- If Signal seems to drop - hold splitter, and grab optical cord by the finger holds, make sure it is firmly seated in socket - bend to left, right, up, down slowly with little force. Does the signal improve in any of the 4 directions? Try pushing both the source and destination ends to test.
- If Signal continues to drop - Try different cables - The most expensive isn't always the answer.
- your amplifier may be the problem - hence, shorter wires to keep signal strength.
This unit works for me. I used it to patch a XBox 360 and Playstation 2 into my Pioneer amplifier. Works PERFECT!!!

1 out of 5 stars Did Not Work in Any Setup   August 30, 2008
C. Dubuque (Tampa, FL)
I was going to use this item as a 2 into 1 setup with a DVR and Xbox360 going into my receiver. Did not work. I tried to use the unit as a simple pass through to see if it even worked. No good. I could get no signal to pass through. Complete Junk.....Cost of shipping item back to get a $3 refund made no sense. Item already sleeps with the fishes.......

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted   August 27, 2008
Stephen R. Mance (Lawrence, KS)
This product went over and above my expectations. I have digital audio in both my computer and my DVD player. I plugged each input into this splitter and the output to my stereo. The splitter was able to use the audio from my computer, then when the DVD player was on, switch to the DVD. This has the effect of having one side as a MAIN, where if digital audio is detected on the MAIN, it will pass that through, no matter whether or not anything is plugged into the secondary. So, if you connect this side to something you only have on when you want to hear audio through, it works wonderfully.

1 out of 5 stars May work, but did not for me.   July 30, 2008
K. Torbeck (Mundelein, IL USA)
This is a simple product that splits the optical signal from two accessories in to one digital receiver or splits the signal from one accessory in to two receivers. I am sure for a lot of people this product will work great for them, but for myself I ran in to a problem.

Too use this product you can't have a signal coming from both units at the same time. In my case I was trying to hookup a DirecTV Tivo and a Panasonic DVD recorder to my Sony Reciever. However, I quickly ran in to a problem because while the Tivo would turn off its Optical transmitter when put in standby, the Panasonic would not.

1 out of 5 stars No response   June 13, 2008
Gordon Hacking (Montreal)
I could not get this item to work at all with my system. I wanted to connect my PS3 and DVD player to my amp. I even tried connecting only one item to the amp, basically using the splitter as a pass-thru but got not sound. All the cables worked alone on each of the devices but the second I introduced the splitter nothing worked. I contacted the seller, BargainCell 2 times but got no response. I was hoping to get some input or advice, maybe an exchange, but it looks like they are not interested. It seems from other reviews this item is supposed to do exactly what I want it to do, but mine doesn't. I'm not sure why it's not working for me...I wish the guys at BargainCell would get back to me to shed some light on this, but they've been paid so I won't hold my breath.
