Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Portable audio takes on fresh life with quality headphones, and Sennheiser's folding, lightweight, closed-ear PXC 250 is designed to keep outside noises out and headphone sound in--perfect for use in busses and libraries alike.
Increase the peace! The PXC 250 features a noise reduction unit
that cancels out background noise.

When engaged, NoiseGard active noise reduction drops steady-state low-frequency noise (from about 500 Hz and below) by 15 dB--which the human ear perceives as more than halving the noise--thus enhancing the clarity of your music. The noise reduction circuit requires 2 AAA batteries (not included), but the headphones work fine without the circuit engaged.

Sennheiser's fold and flip design lets you turn the ear pieces 90 degrees and fold the headphones closed. Their ported design lets them move more air for greater bass response.

What's in The Box
6-foot Kevlar-reinforced cord, .25-inch stereo adapter, airline adapter, belt pouch.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent sound, good value for the money can be improved   July 1, 2008
This is the second pair I have owned. The sound canceling/quality ratio is very good. The headphones are lightweight and easy on your ears. While they do not provide the same level of sound suppression as heavier headphones, they achieve an amazing level of noise cancelation while preserving very good audio quality. Improvements could be made in the battery holder which can be cumbersome as well as in the folding for storage process which is not intuitive.

5 out of 5 stars Liked it so much I bought one for myself and my dad   June 23, 2008
Bought this for my dad last Christmas. Liked it so much I bought another one before my trip to Prague this past spring. Works great for the airplane. You can definitely hear the difference. I might get another for my fiancee (she kept stealing it from me on the airplane) so that we could both enjoy the decreased noise. Compared to the Bose Quiet Comfort (I bought one for my dad a couple years back) I think it's at least as good for a lot less. The bag that it comes with is a plus as it takes very little space and also holds my iPod and extra batteries. Would recommend this to anyone. Sennheiser quality is very good as always. Although I am by no means an expert, I have several decent headphones (2 Sennheisers and 1 Grado) so I feel I can tell the different between a cheap $20 headphone from Walmart and a good high quality one.

5 out of 5 stars Great headphones   June 9, 2008
I ordered these headphones refurbished and was pleased with their like-new condition. Comfort was a big factor in my decision to buy these. I find them comfortable to wear for at least a couple of hours. I tried other headphones and found that they were too tight to wear for long without getting a headache. The sound cancelling feature also works well.

1 out of 5 stars Don't be misled   June 8, 2008

I spent many hours combing through reviews online to find a more comfortable, higher performance, and hopefully smaller noise cancellation product than my MDR-NC6's from Sony.

Well I don't know what planet all the "audiophiles" are residing on when they praise this product.
Without the cancellation on, my iPod sounds like I am listening to a tin can connected by a string. When the cancellation is on, it sounds almost as good as my $10 sony workout headphones and nowhere close to the MDR-NC6's.

As a side note, the construction appears prett shabby and it was an easy call to send them back.

Now back to the search to find the ultimate pair which can do it all.

4 out of 5 stars Great buy, good value   June 5, 2008
If you travel, especially by air, YOU NEED THESE. Period. Sennheiser's stuff is generally considered to be second only to the much more expensive Bose, and for my money these do the job. I've worn these on the T in Boston, the El in Chicago and on flights and all I could hear was my music. My only complaint is figuring out how to keep the wires untangled was tough at first, but once you get the hang of it it works fine. It's also a bonus that they work without the noise-cancelling feature; when I travel I hook these up to my laptop and get great sound quality. Buy with confidence!
