Amazon.com Product Description The Mio 168RS combines two of a business traveler's most handy companions to create a single indispensable device. Outfitted with Intel's Xscale 300 MHz processor and Microsoft's Pocket PC 2003 second edition operating system, the 168RS makes a great handheld PC, with the ability to run Microsoft's Pocket Outlook, Word, Excel, Media Player, and Internet Explorer software, along with other programs geared toward the mobile professional. At the same time, it also acts as a reliable and accurate GPS receiver, with a durable built-in antenna and sophisticated yet easy-to-use MioMap mapping software, which includes maps of the continental U.S., Hawaii, and Canada. The palm-sized device is ideal for anyone who's constantly on the go, especially folks who don't want to invest in a spendy car GPS system but still appreciate a GPS navigator's skill with directions. Ready to use right out of the box, the Mio 168RS's comprehensive route planning is reliable and easy to follow, with point-by-point driving directions conveyed both verbally and visually in real time. Users can view maps (along with photos and videos) in either landscape or portrait mode on the 3.5-inch TFT color LCD screen. Should they take a wrong turn or experience an unplanned detour, the Mio 168RS automatically recalculates the route and delivers new directions in real time. The device is also terrific when touring unfamiliar cities on foot, as business travelers needn't mess with large foldout maps or tour guides as they wind through busy crowds. Instead, they merely consult the 168RS and its millions of points of interest, which guides them to restaurants, hotels, historical landmarks, museums, libraries, and more. Once tourist time is over, travelers can get to work using the unit's pocket PC functions. The Mio 168RS helps users track and keep appointments, offering daily, weekly, and monthly calendar events, along with follow-up contacts. The device also synchronizes easily with your PC, so you won't have to keep two schedules or contact lists to stay on top of your business transactions. Among its technical specs are 32 MB of flash ROM and 64 MB of SDRAM memory, with a bonus SD/MMC expansion slot for additional storage capacity. For good measure, the 168RS even supports MP3 playback, so you can enjoy your favorite tunes during leisure time. Boasting all the necessary software, maps, and accessories for the mobile traveler--including a car charger and holder--the Mio 168RS is truly a one of a kind. What's in the Box Mio 168RS pocket PC/GPS navigator, 12-volt car charger, AC adapter, external GPS antenna, sucker arm and PDA holder, Windows Mobile software package, MioMap software, ActiveSync USB cable, earphones, carrying case, user's manual.

I think tath is the perfect pocket pc. is not expencive, and geve you all wath you need...
Good but not great May 10, 2006 fivekhigh (Florida) Have used the GPS function on numerous occasion in FL and NC and have found it to be reasonable accurate albeit a bit out of date. Point of interest items inexplicable leave out many common items, ie Outback steak house in Fayetteville, NC. Pocket PC function work well. Although the GPS function is not as good as a dedicated GPS unit the combination with the pocket PC functions is well suited to my needs. All accessories were supplied and overall cost is significantly less than two separate units.
Better Value In Other Products May 9, 2006 Jay Bluemon (Austin, Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
While this is about the cheapest GPS/PDA combo I was able to find, there are 4 critical flaws: 1. The maps are very out-of-date for my area. I wrote customer service (it was a major undertaking even finding an address to email) and they said map updates were not available yet. That was 6 months ago. None of my more recent emails were answered. 2. The batteries are built in and can't by changed by the user. If you are on a plane and your battery runs low, or you forget your adapter, your are out of luck. 3. No built in networking, and only one expansion slot. That means you can't use a memory card and networking at the same time. 4. The US web site for this product is very poor. There are dead links on the pages for the 168 RS. In addition, the GPS receiver seems VERY slow to resolve a signal. It takes almost 5 minutes every time I turn the device on before it starts to work. I can't be sure if this is typical of these types of devices or not, so I won't list it as a flaw per se. I have had owned this for about 7 months and will be buying a different device soon because of the numerous limitations.
DECEIVED April 18, 2006 P. Guevremont 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product's problem, is that the maps are obsolete, and no technical support reachable. Errors, in directing to routes 25 % too long compared to Mapquest, or Mapgoogle. Not possible to get the maps update. Cheaper in price, cheaper in value
