I purchased one of these thru Cables To Go. Their product number26686 3 meters or 9 2/3 ft) USB A Male to A Female Extension Cable. It was an off-white in colour. No mess, the cable lenght is long enough to extend behind the scenes of my new rather large corner computer desk without having a large bundle of slack cable left over. Speaking of coils, it is durable, resists kinking, but does wrap any extra footage rather nicely when tied off (I am not cheap - I'm just practical) with a couple of breadbag tie-ties.
Low-price Buy - Excellent Product - Purchased online because I was in a hurry to go on vacation, so can't rate Shipping time, but No S&H was a plus. Convenient Seller too!

As advertised, this is a working USB 2.0 extension cable. It costs less than what I would have paid in a retail store.
Also important is that it is truly 2.0, because all USB cables are not created equal. I once bought a cable from a large retail chain. This cable was advertised as "high speed," but when I used it as an extension for my devices, my PC would only recognize those devices as USB 1.1. I.e., slow, and in many cases unusable. I would think that wiring is wiring, but something about the cables is different between USB versions, and that difference is very important to recognize in terms of impact on productivity. I am thankful that this cable is true 2.0.
Currently I use this cable to charge my iPhone when plugged into my iBook G4, so that I can keep the phone on my nightstand even though my computer desk is over 10 feet away. At a later date I plan to use it as an extension for a 2.0 hub for my PC.
Note: the item received is not identical to the picture--the cover does not extend to the top of the female end of the connector. However, this has no effect on the usability of the product.

My brother sent me a card reader for my ditial camera but it wouldn't fit into my USB port since the front of my PC is recessed - so I purchased this USB extension. It works perfectly! Now I can download all my pics to my PC without having to hook up my camera, which uses up a lot power from the camera's batteries. The shipping was a bit high, but the price was more than fair and it was delivered quickly. Thanks, Amazon!!

Bought this cable to use with a 250 gb usb drive. It was enough to power the hard drive but not enough for windows to detect the drive. I ended up using it to connect a printer. Not recommended for connecting hard drives or for high speed data transmission. You get what ya pay for I guess.
