I'm not a techie. This was my first flash drive because it was incredibly cheap. I have another one now, but I like this one because the bright green color makes it easy to find and it flashes when it is working. The snap-on cap is secure and can be put on a key chain. The small size means it does not stick too far out when I plug it into my laptop. I use it to transfer word files from my desktop to laptop and back again and it serves as portable storage. The memory is adequate for a wordsmith.

Great product, Lexar! It's tiny, convenient, and I'm a sucker for the lime green color. It's also amazingly durable.
My little flash drive was accidentally left in my pocket. It went through a hot wash with 3 rinses, and then through the dryer. I discovered it in my pants pocket while folding laundry and thought all was lost, because the little cap had come off. However, I decided to plug it into the computer and voila! No damage to any of my files (which included Word files, some coding, an application, and some pictures)and it worked just fine.
Thanks Lexar for making a great little flash drive!

I really can't begin to describe how slow the transfer rate of the Lexar firefly is. The transfer rate makes it nearly unusable for anything but a few small files. It can take literally HOURS to transfer 500 MB if it is a bunch of small files you are transferring. It is a little bit faster with fewer larger files. However, I recommend looking for something else. I am very disappointed with my purchase.
My Favorite USB Drive May 11, 2007

I have several USB drives, and this one is my favorite. The compact size usually does not block the adjacent USB slot, although you may need to set the cap aside. The activity LED is visible from all directions, so you get feedback. I often use this in laptops or desktops other than my own, and the putrid green color is a real advantage to remind me that I need to remove it and take it with me. The cap still fits snugly after about ten months of use.
I carry this in a laptop case rather than on a keychain. Keychains get a lot of banging, and I'd rather not tempt fate.
I recommend any of the Lexar Firefly models, but this one has the most obnoxious color, and is highly recommended for anyone who can be forgetful, although I can't remember who that might be.

I just wanted to let you know that the jump drive work well. I have the red 256 mb and I needed another one so I chose the next step up so that I wouldn't have 2 of the same color and get confused.
